Euro Cartos and
Locatives
August
3, 2003
/Mike Liebhold
The cutting edge of geospace is definitely European this summer.
Geo hackers, artists and geographers gathered in Liepja Latvia , last month for the
Locative Media conference
to bash out new frameworks for collaborative maps, and spatial media,
and geograffiti, and Parisians have been interacting with digital maps
and spatial media at a cool exhibit at the Palais de Tokyo entitled
'GNS - Global Navigation
System'
And, then globe trekking digital librarian, and community techie, friend Steve Cisler,[blog] writes from Berlin this week
with a pointer to Marina
Vishmidt's essay after the recent Cartographic Congress in the UK:
" With the emergence of collaborative mapping, open
data systems, semantic webs and meta-mapping, the function of ‘the map’
in the information age has become as complex as the informatic topographies
it rests upon."
