Building the GeoInformatics
System: A workshop May 15, 2003 in San Diego on Planning
and Coordinating Environmental Cyberinfrastructure Activities in the
Earth Sciences. Stay tuned for the procedings in August.
And
finally, an important framework for thinking about interoperability at
mutliple levels of the geospatial web: The Geospatial Interoperability
Reference Model (GIRM) from the Federal Geographic Data Committee FGDC,
a pioneering interagency group that Tom was instrumental in launching as deputy assistant to President
Clinton and Vice President Gore for technology as the "point person" on
a wide range of science, technology and telecommunications issues, including
